Schedule: every Fall semester + occasional summer offerings

Format: Integrated lecture & lab, plus required overnight weekend field trip, intended for Biology or Comprehensive Science majors

4 credit hours: 3 hours lecture, 3 hours lab per week

Includes required overnight weekend field trip (Sat. 7 AM to Sun. 4 PM; each student must complete one of the scheduled trips). Expected trip dates for F07 are:

• 15-16 Sep. Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, Nolde Forest Environmental Education Center. (This is Parents Weekend)

• 6-7 Oct. NJ pine barrens, Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge, Cape May State Park, Belleplain State Forest. (This is Homecoming Weekend)

Writing Enriched & Research Requirement

Fulfills Population Biology area requirement for Biology majors

Available as elective for Geography and the Environment degrees and for Environmental Studies and Ethics concentrations

Prerequisite or recommended precursor for:

• Bio 4451/4452 Field Ecology & Evolution

• Bio 4801 Conservation Biology

• Bio 7105 Vertebrate Ecology

• Bio 7755 Plant Ecophysiology
