Format: lecture, discussion, and student presentations

  • 2 lectures of 75 min (or 3 lectures of 50 min) per week

  • possible Dept. of Biology seminar attendance and possible local field trip(s), to be arranged

3 credit hours

This class will fulfill the Writing Enriched requirement. Students will submit, receive feedback on, revise, and resubmit one writing assignment involving use of primary literature in conservation biology.

The course fulfills the Arts & Sciences Research Requirement (relevant for undergraduate BIO majors entering Villanova in 2005 or beyond; must complete at least one such course before the end of Junior year).

Pre-requisite: Bio 3255 Introductory Ecology, or at least one other prior course in ecology or environmental science with my approval (contact me to obtain permission)

Target audience for this course:

Biology or Environmental Science/Environmental Studies majors with interest (and background) in ecology
