Requirements in Biology for the major in Biology @ VillanovaTo
graduate, you must pass (grade of D- or better) courses resulting in 36
earned credits in Biology as listed below. Your GPA in these course + math
and other science (your “technical cumulative”) must also end up ≥ 2.0 1) Introductory
Biology (8 credits)
¨ General Biology I (or
Honors equivalent) (4 credits) ¨ General Biology II (or
Honors equivalent) (4 credits) 2) Genetics,
Bio 3351 (3 credits (before 2007) or 4 credits (after 2007))
3) Senior
Seminar, Bio 5100 (1 credit)
(or an approved substitute seminar course if available)
4) At least 5 upper-division Biology courses with lab (number 3000 or higher) (20 credits)
5) At least 3 or 4 additional upper-division credits (depending on which version of Genetics you took), from one or more of the following¨ 6th
upper-division biology course with lab (4 credits) ¨ upper-division biology
lecture-only course(s) (2 or 3 credits each) ¨ Directed Research (2
credits) ¨ Senior Thesis
Research, Dept. of Biology (2 credits) ¨ Senior Thesis
Research, Honors Program (3 credits) ¨ Biology For-credit Internship (3 or 6 credits; requires formal pre-approval through Internship Office and Dept. of Biology) Why
